HUSIANYCIA, HARRY - Harry Husianycia, 79 a long time Hastings on Hudson resident died Tuesday at his home. He was born in the Ukraine on January 10, 1921 to Michael and Mary Husianycia. He emigrated to the United States in 1954 and settled in Yonkers. In 1961 they moved to Hastings. Harry was self employed carpenter and wood worker. He also worked for the Village of Hastings Department of Public Works from 1973 to 1986. After his retirement from the Village, he continued to do carpentry and wood working which were a hobby as well as a career. Other hobbies that he enjoyed were gardening and boating. Mr. Husianycia was active in the Ukrainian Youth Center on Palisade Avenue in Yonkers and was a parishioner of St. Michaelís Ukrainian Catholic Church. During World War II, he served in the Ukrainian Army. On October 5, 1956 he married Lydia Wadjik, she died on January 26, 1997. He is survived by his five loving daughters, Lydia Ottivich of Hastings, Hilda Sullivan of Yonkers, Mary Holowiak of Hastings, Christina Funston of Philadelphia and Natalie Sommer of Putnam Valley, NY, seven devoted grandchildren and his caring sister Anna. Funeral Mass Thursday 10:00 AM St. Michaelís Ukrainian Church, 21 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, Visiting today 2-4 and 7-9 at Edward Dowdle Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to the St. Michaelís Ukrainian Catholic Church roof fund appreciated.
